BDO and Lock Down stage 2

03 May 2020

We hope that you and your families are all keeping healthy during these difficult and unpredictable times.

Our firm has had to adapt to the changed business environment over the last couple of weeks by working remotely from home, and although there are some interesting challenges, we have managed to offer you our continued value-added services during this period.

BDO was succesfull in qualifying for a certificate as an essential services provider under the category, "Administrative and Support Services”.  This certificate was issued by the Ministry of Indusrialization and Trade on the 15th of April 2020, and authorised us to continue with certain compliance services administered by the BSO, Tax and Company Secretarial Departments, which eased some of the difficulties experienced doing work for our clients remotely.

On 30 April 2020, his Excellency the President of Namibia Dr Hage Geingob announced our country’s plan to move to stage 2 of the lockdown. We have assessed our readiness and are in the process of implementing controls in order to be able to officially open all our offices next week, whilst ensuring that we adhere to the strict guidelines for stage 2 under the State of Emergency (as detailed in a document at this link). Our main objective is to ensure the safety of our staff and clients. We will put all necessary measures humanly possible in place to safeguard all offices, in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Our offices are scheduled for deep cleaning and sanitising early next week, followed by a staggered approach to staff returning for work, which is part of the preventative measures. We ask you to please be patient with us during this transition period - where need arises we will continue to service you remotely to ensure that there is no disconnect in our commitment towards you and your business.

It is envisaged that our offices will be fully functional (as best as can be expected with the “new normal”) from Monday the 11th of May 2020. All preventative measures implemented by BDO prior to and during the lockdown period will still be applicable and maintained during Stage 2/ Download the document below.

If you need any help in the meantime and/or urgent work that must be completed, you are more than welcome to contact any of the designated partners or managers for their assistance.

We wish you all of the best during these unprecedented times, and hope that your business will soon be fully operational as it was before COVID-19.
