Executive Summary

Charl, a Namibian registered Chartered Accountant [CA (Namibia)] was in commerce for eight years before he joined BDO in August 2000.  He became a partner of BDO on 1 July 2006.  Charl is also the partner in charge of the Northern Region Office in Ongwediva. Charl was appointed Managing Partner of BDO on 1 February 2017.  BDO Namibia is a membrer firm of BDO International, the fith largest auditing and accounting firm in the world.  The BDO Network was also awarded the prestigious “Network of the Year Award” at the International Accounting Bulletin (AIB) awards in 2015.

Over the twenty two years, he obtained invaluable experience in the manufacturing, electricty (generation and distribution), construction, hospitality (restaurants and accommodation), medical (management of private hospitals), wine (manufacturing and distribution) transport, mining (diamond mining and polishing), gaming, farming, pharmaceutical, property (development and investment), financial services, insurance (short- & long-term), educational (distance learning), electricity (supply and distribution), and aviation industries.  Charl is actively involved in business consulting in Namibia.

As a result of his technical expertise, he was extensively involved in the roll-out and implementation of the first time adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), IFRS for Small and Medium-size Entities and NAC001: Financial Reporting for Small and Medium-size Entities for various clients as well as non-clients through-out Namibia.
