BDO Sponsors Khomas Medical Center July Handicap

Shadaloo of the Alberts stables from Keetmanshoop kicked dust in the eyes of the other competing horses at the annual KMC Rehoboth July race that stretches over 2200 meters. The race was presented by NARIS TURF CLUB.

Eight horses competed in this prestigious race with a total prize money of N$25 000, the highest amount yet for a single race in this country.

The total prize money for the day was N$ 60 000-00, with a total of eight races that took place. The prize money was sponsored by BDO, Khomas Medical Center, Marisa Venter Intigrated Aesthetics, 7 Stars, Fine & Country, Legal shield and Trustco Life.

Niekie Angermund’s Waterways and Eamon Freygang’s Castle Rock were the leaders of the race up to the 400m mark, when Shadaloo started his endgame. At that point, there was no stopping the stallion Shadaloo.

Bernard Kaanjuka’s Ill Tanga surprised everyone by taking the second place spot ahead of Waterways and Boogy Boy, followed by evergreen Castle Rock, Papkan, Back to Bowler, and the favorite Paddy in last place.

For the first time in a race the first place was given to two horses, Arkell’s Atrum and Timo Mujue’s Professor, with Happy Dream taking the third place.

In the younger horses’ division that stretches over 1600 meters, Wind Goddess comfortably beat Double D and Queen of the Shadow. Black Market had to give it everything he had to beat Litethenite in the D Division over 1600 meters, followed by Kingsley.
